Group Exhibition in Walla Walla, Washington
April 30, 2025Watermarks at Foundry Vineyards
I’m delighted to share that my work, Awakening Breath 1, will be included in Watermarks: Works from the Mokuhanga Project Space Residency, opening this Friday, May 2, at Foundry Vineyards in Walla Walla.
This exhibition celebrates the artists who have taken part in the Mokuhanga Project Space residency since 2023. I feel grateful for the opportunity to spend time in Walla Walla experimenting with mokuhanga, guided by the collaborative spirit of the residency and the generosity of the local community. My process was enriched by conversations and feedback from fellow artists Ariadna Abadal, Florence Neal, and Julie Strasheim, as well as support from Open Road Prints, Keiko Hara, Lynn Sealy, Foundry Vineyards, and so many others who make this residency possible.
Watermarks features the work of twelve artists from across the U.S. and abroad, each exploring mokuhanga—the Japanese water-based woodblock printing tradition—in fresh and contemporary ways. I’m honored to share the space with:
- Vicky Takamori – Seattle, WA
- Mike Lyon – Kansas City, MO
- Kathleen Hargrave – Seattle, WA
- Julie Strasheim – China and Japan
- Florence Neal – Brooklyn, NY
- Chihiro Taki – Tokyo, Japan
- Charles Spitzack – Seattle, WA
- Benjamin Selby – Walla Walla, WA
- Ariadna Abadal Lloret – Barcelona, Spain
- April Vollmer – New York, NY
- Andrew Stone – Florence, Italy
- Patty Hudak – Underhill, VT.
